The Waltz Lesson (for mandolin orchestra) is an arrangement for mandolin orchestra of a waltz that I wrote a few years back. It offers a good chance for your orchestra to practice paying attention to accidentals and a nice workout for your guitarists. There is a solo written out for a mandolinist from measures 89-120. This can certainly be played as written but the soloist should feel free to improvise through the chord changes instead if he or she so desires. My friends in the Minnesota Mandolin Orchestra have spent some time with the piece and now is the time to offer this music to any other group that might be interested. Please feel free to print as many copies of the score and parts as necessary for the use of your group. Also, don't hesitate to experiment with tempos and dynamics. My hope is that you will enjoy playing this music and that you will convey that enjoyment to your audiences.
